A.P.E. thoughts on Teacher Satisfaction and Student Achievement:

A.P.E. believes High job satisfaction enables teachers to deliver quality teaching. When school systems can in brace this concept this will help their students be more successful. A.P.E. also believes knowing and making changes to increase teacher satisfaction will increase student achievement.

A.P.E. believes there are two main factors that will increase student achievement.

Teacher satisfaction

Parent involvement

Mr. Haynes study on teacher’s satisfaction found that most teachers leave the profession for lack of administrative support. A.P.E. believes school systems must remove their teachers from dilapidated work conditions to increase teacher satisfaction.

There should be a healthy synergy between teachers and parents, but note this will only come from parent involvement.

We must also note, when teachers feel like their voice matters in the education decision process this increase job satisfaction than the others  perceived that they are voiceless and isolated.

Reduced or hindered teacher’s involvement in decision making, and poor working conditions are one of the most common reasons for teachers turn over. Like,

Bad drive-by evaluations of teachers by untrained administrators

Being treated unprofessionally by administrators like, “talked down to in front of students by administrators.

Knowing that 51% of teachers goes through lots of stress several times a week.

Mr. Haynes study also found that this stress, is highly related to pressures and demands by administrators like a demand to pressure teachers to change grades or to cheat without saying the words cheat.

These stressors come by,

The burdensome of too much paperwork

Bad schools culture and climate

Autonomy of teachers (freedom from external control or influence; independence. Meaning teachers don’t want to be controlled but to be treated like the professionals they are.

Once again, Dilapidated work conditions

Administrators:

A.P.E. Will not rollover and play dead. A.P.E. will not allow administrators to harass its members. Paul the Apostle was known for saying, “This I say,” If you try it A.P..E Will destroy you!  That You Can Believe!
